The Story
Writer. Candlemaker. Yogi, Yosemite Valley.
The Origin
I grew up in Yosemite.
I went from writing alone in the woods to contributing to publications around the world. I teach yoga. I travel.
My dad was in Search and Rescue. He ran toward the hard stuff and called it a lesson. When he was alive, anytime I was going through something, whether positive or negative, he would talk about "life's little lessons."
He passed in 2021 and left me with one thing I could not shake — make the most of it.

The Spark
It all started with a stinky trip to the bathroom.
Look. Sometimes life stinks. It knows how to give you the shiddies in the worst way possible.
After a particularly stinky shiddie on the toilet one day, which I had just started sharing with my partner, I decided a "bathroom candle" was needed. I looked up how to make candles on my own, found some fragrances I thought would go well together, and birthed the "Flush Your Shiddies" candle.
I thought it would be fun to include messages of letting go on the back of the candle—literally flushing it down the toilet with your waste. I didn't want to have the same message on each candle, and I wanted to explore different themes. That prompted me to start playing around a little more.
The Practice
This is not a candle company. It is a practice.
I took my dad's philosophy and created the tagline "Make the most of life's little shiddies." Because when that shiddie starts to stink, light it up, and let it go.
I hand pour candles and curate scents in my kitchen, small-batch. Every candle is a theme I wrote. Every back label is a message I left for whoever needs it.
I am a writer first. The candles are where my writing lives now.
